I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.
There are times people are tempted to divert the use of their tithe for attending to different problems and issues of life. Can a man divert God’s tithe and escape the consequences? What we are reading in our text today are shows how we are to respond to God’s command on the tithe.
Note the following from our text:
- I have not eaten there of in my mourning. This is also rendered, “no part of it has been used for food in a time of trouble and weeping”. You will be tempted by Satan to use God’s tithe and solve an emergency problem. Beware and be faithful.
- Emergency bills might come to you when there is no other cash at hand except the tithe you are to bring to God’s house. That is the trap of the devil to close your heavens. Never divert God’s tithe no matter the emergency. Give your tithe first before anything else.
- “Neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use. Do not put tithe money into any secular affair: e.g. fees, bills, food, toiletries, car repairs, building project or such. Only God’s altar can handle the power of the tithe.
Beloved, do not let anyone lure you into trouble with God’s tithe. May God’s house and altar connect you to God’s blessings. There is no excuse for diverting God’s tithe. BEWARE!
